iCellate is a Swedish life science company founded in 2011 and headquartered in Stockholm. iCellate develops liquid biopsy services for hereditary cancer risk, early cancer detection, and treatment selection - enabling precision medicine. The company's novel technology is the outcome of research at the Karolinska Institute in collaboration with Karolinska University Hospital and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.


The company is an alumnus of both Uppsala Innovation Center (UIC) and STING, and has over the years been the recipient of several awards from scientific institutions and private companies alike.

The Management Team

Pelle Redare (CEO) brings a wealth of experience from the Medtech business where he has worked more than 20 years for both small and large companies, for example Siemens, Radi Medical and St Jude Medical. As CEO for iCellate, Pelle combines his great experiences from CEO positions in larger companies and background from running small start-up companies.

Christer Ericsson, PhD, (CSO) is an award-winning cancer biologist and a specialist in clinical sample handling. Christer Ericsson has published numerous scientific papers in “Cell” and other respected international journals and monographs in cancer biology. He has held research positions at the Salk Institute in San Diego, CA, the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden and at the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York.

Iohn Ryott (COO) has worked both nationally and internationally in a number different Medtech companies, ranging from small to large size. Iohn has worked with sales and marketing in Europe, US and Asia and has gathered extensive knowledge in sales execution, negotiation and leadership. Iohn plays a vital role in the commercialization phase of iCellate.

Åsa Rosenquist (VP R&D) assumed the position as head of iCellate's research department and lab operations in 2019. Åsa comes most recently from XSpray Pharma and, in addition to working at Karolinska Institute and the Public Health Authority, has worked primarily with drug development at Medivir. Åsa's knowledge of leading employees combined with many years of experience in lab work and project/product development make her a very important part of iCellate's future team development.

Francisca Lameiras (Quality Director) joined iCellate in 2017. Francisca holds a PhD degree in Metabolic Engineering from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) and is a results-driven and dynamic scientist. Francisca started her carrier at iCellate as Head of Lab and assumed in 2020 the role as head of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. With her knowledge in both R&D and Quality she is a vital part of iCellate continuous development.

Anders Qvarnström (Chairman of the Board)

Board member and chariman since 2021.

Anders has a Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering (with a focus on biochemistry) from KTH, Stockholm, and 34 years of international experience in both public and private life science and medtech companies. He has experience in international expansion and has developed sales and marketing channels in the EU, Japan, and the US. Anders' most recent roles include Country Manager at Nilfisk Inc. Japan, Divisional Manager at St. Jude Medical Japan Co, and COO at Global Kinetics Corp. (Australia).

Harald is a Senior Consultant of Surgery at Karolinska University Hospital and previous Director of Theme Cancer. Harald brings invaluable contributions to the board by way of his extensive clinical experience and relationshiops.

Magnus is a serial entrepreneur and a prominent tech investor. With over 30 tech investments, Magnus brings a wealth of experience in helping companies drive growth and establish market leadership in the ever-competitive internet market. Magnus is chairman for online fashion retailer NA-KD; founder of and acting chairman for Visit Group, a leading SaaS ecommerce platform for the travel industry; investor in and chairman for Jetshop, the leading nordic SaaS ecommerce platform for resellers; and founder and partner of ESS Hotel Group with over 20 destination hotels such as Ellery Beach Hotel on Lidingö, Steam Hotel in Västerås, and Ystad Saltsjöbad.

Fredrik Dalborg (Board member)

Fredrik has 20 years of international experience within Medtech including in the US, Belgium, and Singapore. He has held a variety of leading roles at companies within blood diagnostics and cancer therapeutics, most recenetly as CEO for both Boule Diagnostics and Etac.
